Message From The President

Welcome to the one-stop-shop for estate planning guidance for the public and professionals.  Here you can locate estate planning specialists from the Pacific Northwest in the areas of law, accounting, insurance, financial services and trusts, as well as find links to our helpful booklets on estate planning topics and articles on specific topics.

For the Public

Estate planning is more than just writing a will. It is about controlling and managing your assets in a way to assure that your financial and health wishes are met if you become incapacitated or die.  It’s a way to make sure that assets are preserved to provide for your loved ones and your favorite causes. Proper planning is especially important for high-net worth individuals and business owners whose estates are large enough to be subject to changing federal and state estate taxes.

If you are seeking helpful information or guidance on estate matters, please see our helpful booklets, including “Dealing with the Death of a Loved One,” “A Guide to Estate Planning,” and “The Fiduciary’s Handbook.” Our website also contains helpful articles and links to other relevant sites.

If you are seeking advice, please see the membership directory to locate an estate planning specialist from the Pacific Northwest who can assist you in the areas of law, accounting, insurance, financial services and trusts.  These quality advisors can provide guidance with an existing matter or help you craft a detailed plan for you and your family.

For Professional Advisors

If you are an estate planning professional, please consider joining our organization. Here you will find colleagues to network with at our quarterly dinner meetings, helpful information about your field, and a welcoming organization that values high quality estate planning to help members of our community. Members are listed in the directory and can easily be found by their peers and the public.

About the Organization

Founded in the early 1940s, the Estate Planning Council of Seattle is one of the leading estate planning councils in the nation. Quarterly meetings are held at the Rainier Club in downtown Seattle and routinely feature top local and national speakers who discuss the latest estate planning techniques. Together with the Washington State Bar Association, the council co-sponsors one of the oldest and largest estate planning conferences in the nation - a two-day event featuring nationally recognized experts. The council also provides educational material in the form of booklets and articles in the Puget Sound Business Journal.

I invite you to please contact us if we may be of service to you.

Sincerely,

Mitchell V. Maurer

President of the Estate Planning Council of Seattle
